Sweet Bella Café
If you have Sweet Bella on speed dial for picture-pretty cakes, then you’ll be glad to know that homebaker and California Culinary Academy-educated pastry chef Cristina Santiago-Rivera has finally opened a café for her delectable treats. Popular for her Strawberry Charlotte, a luscious cake with a crunchy cashew crust covered in layers of Chantilly cream and topped with plump red strawberries, Cristina says that the new café is more than just a pick-up point for cake orders.
Clad in white and hot pink hues , the cafe also serves as a nice brunch spot and an after-meal dessert destination. The menu lists all-day breakfast items such as comforting pancakes, appetizing omelettes, plus Pinoy breakfast favorites, sandwiches, pasta dishes and even brick-oven pizza, but it is Cristina’s gorgeous desserts that are truly the stars of the cafe.
Drool over the rows of pastel-colored French macarons, indulge in moist layers of chocolate cake and rich ganache from a slice of her Chocolata, or go light and fruity with a serving of Mangotier, her version of the classic mango cheesecake recipe with layers of mango mousse and oven-baked cheesecake. Cristina says that while her best-selling desserts are menu staples, seasonal creations, such as the new passionfruit and guava-flavored cakes, make it to the menu every two months.
