Spices

Spices in The Peninsula Manila is an old Asian inspired restaurant with interiors using predominantly redwood and Vigan tile flooring. The wood and brass ceiling fans and the calming sound of water flowing from the fountain located in the middle of the restaurant creates a relaxing dining atmosphere.

The menu is wide-ranging enough for any diner that loves Asian cuisine, and each dish visually appealing. As a starter, try the Thai crispy catfish salad with green mango, lime and shallots served very fresh in a big plate, which is good for sharing. The simmered lapu-lapu in ginger, cumin and yogurt although too creamy brings a surprisingly strong flavour. House specialties include the Vietnamese tiger prawns baked with garlic hollandaise and the traditional Indonesian sate. The Indian spicy hot and sour lamb curry with peppercorn which is tangy and tender is yet another dish worthy of interest and sampling. The Indonesian poached banana saba in coconut milk and Thai mango with sticky rice are popular desserts among regulars since they are not only delicious but comforting.

A comprehensive list of wines is offered either by the glass or by the bottle. Champagne and Sparklings are also available.
