SM City Sta. Mesa

The mall opened to the public on September 28, 1990, and was the second SM Supermall to open after the Largest SM Supermall in The Philippines, SM City North EDSA. It was named as SM Centerpoint since it is located at the boundaries of three cities, namely Manila, Quezon City and San Juan City. The mall featured several amusement venues on its opening, namely the Quantum, Worlds of Fun and an annex building. The jurisdiction of the mall went to Manila in May 2006 and was renamed as SM City Sta. Mesa, and it's official address was Santa Mesa, Manila, but the mall's location was based geographically, in Quezon City. The renaming of the mall was also done to commemorate Santa Mesa's 15th Anniversary. Although, the territory and jurisdiction of SM Sta Mesa is still being disputed.

On September 26, 2009, the basement level was submerged when Typhoon Ondoy battered the Philippines. The appliance center, supermarket, food court and other retail stores located at the basement level were heavily damaged. The basement level was temporarily closed for several days.

Near the end of 2008 and up until the beginning of 2009, a quadruplet residential towers was constructed, which is managed and operated bySM Residences, namely the Mezza Residences. Mezza Residences is a major project for SM Developments, Inc. with a vision of sculpting the Santa Mesa, Manila skyline and for the mall to accommodate more clientelle. Throughout the years, the mall had undergone several renovations.
