Cuillère

According to the Cambridge Dictionary, a Brassiere is a French-style restaurant that serves affordable and simple food. However, this definition does not do justice to Cuillère. Set in the al fresco environs of Serendra, Bonifacio High Street, this establishment provides a gastronomic journey through one of France’s most treasured pastimes.

Start your meal with an appetiser of fried Camembert cheese with stewed apples, raspberry compote and walnuts served with a baguette. Its refreshingly original flavours and texture will surprise you. The sweet flavours of the apple and rasberry go well with the mild cheese. Another scrumptious appetiser is the diced fresh Portobello mushrooms with aromatic vegetables cooked in herbs truffle cream. The sheer delectability of the truffle cream will linger on your mind long after the meal is finished.

For soup, a must try is the sumptuous French onion soup; slowly cooked caramelised onions in beef broth topped with croutons and Gruyère cheese gratin. For an entrée the chorizo arrabbiata is perfect combination of the French with the Filipino; an angel hair pasta dish that features a generous helping of chorizo enveloped in arrabiata sauce. Complement this with the classic French comfort cuisine, Croque Monsieur, a grilled sandwich with loin ham, Gruyère cheese and gratineed Béchamel served with fries and aioli sauce.

For dessert, nothing says French more than a freshly made crêpe. The choices are promising. Sample either the mango, the banana Nutella, the apple and calvados, butter sugar or the crêpe suzette. All these delicious dishes can be enjoyed amidst comfortable, bright, and casual interiors that provide your mind and body a truly rewarding experience that is more affordable than flying to France itself.
